The National To Perform 'Sorrow' For Six Hours Straight

This is like an April Fool’s joke, part of a Brass Eye ‘Music’ episode and a headline on The Onion all mashed together in some sort of farcical blender.

But no, this is genuinely true and it is genuinely happening. On May 5 in New York the band will play the melancholic ‘Sorrow’ for six hours for a collaboration with artist Ragnar Kjartansson.

By our calculations the band would be able to play the song just over 105 times, make of that what you will… but the thought of it makes us want to weep as we stare at deforestation of the Amazon rainforest for six hours straight, or something like that anyway.
